Your Central Oregon Culinary Adventure Awaits

The High Desert Food Trail

If you’re like us, one of your favorite things to do on vacation is eat, drink, and be merry! There’s nothing like exploring a new destination full of tantalizing and tempting local flavors, creations, bites, and brews that make your taste buds dance and sing with delight. And our friends at the High Desert Food and Farm Alliance have put together a deliciously unique experience.

The High Desert Food Trail is a self-guided agricultural and culinary tour featuring 45 unique businesses throughout Central Oregon serving up inviting flavors, stunning views, and experiences you’ll never forget. From sipping an award-winning whiskey at Oregon Spirit Distillers, to grabbing a scrumptious farm-to-table lunch at Rockin’ Daves or Jackson’s Corner made with fresh ingredients from local farms to picking out fresh produce, meats, and artisan treats at Central Oregon Locavore and creating a to-go gourmet feast, the HDFT takes you on a culinary journey through this unique and awe-inspiring region.

The folks at High Desert Food & Farm Alliance support a healthy and thriving food and farm network in Central Oregon through education, collaboration, and inclusion and have put together the High Desert Food Trail to explore the area’s agricultural and culinary roots. By taking the HDFT journey and visiting all or just a few of the hard-working businesses, you too will support their important mission and the people of Central Oregon. And the best part, you can satisfy your cravings with local mouth-watering bites, brews, and sweets along the way; it’s a win-win!

Word to the Wise, and the Hungry

Will kids enjoy it? Absolutely! The HDFT is an easy and fun kid and family-friendly activity with many stops welcoming the little ones with open arms. There’s plenty to keep them entertained and energized from the kiddos feeding fluffy Alpacas at Crescent Moon Ranch or grabbing an ice cream from Bonta at the Bend Farmers Market.

The High Desert Food Trail is open year-round, with May through October being the best time of year as local produce flourishes along with sunny days. And, since it’s a self-guided tour, you can go at your own pace.

Don’t forget to take the local flavor home with you. Whether it’s a growler to-go filled with your new favorite beer you discovered along the Bend Ale Trail, or a locally raised cut of mouthwatering filet from Pioneer Ranch to put on the grill, there are plenty of savory local treats to take home.

Know Before You Go

We highly recommend that you inquire with each business about hours and seasonal operations to make the most out of your tour. And when visiting working farms, respect the invitation to enter each property and be cautious of animals and equipment. Children are required to be supervised at all times and always follow all site-specific rules so everyone can have a safe and enjoyable experience.
