Heidi Hagemeier moved to Bend in 2001 and quickly came to love the region’s amazing landscapes and people. It inspired her to stay in region and seek out ways to give back to the community. She joined the High Desert Museum in 2018 as the Director of Communications & Visitor Experience, bringing with her a passion for telling great stories across mediums to inspire and engage audiences.
Before the Museum, Heidi logged numerous adventures during two decades in journalism as an award-winning writer and editor, from watching wolves in the Yellowstone backcountry to sleeping on the Stanford University hospital floor while covering a child’s heart transplant. In communications and marketing, she has worked in the nonprofit world and in the outdoor industry. In her spare time, Heidi skis, hikes and runs with her husband, daughter and pup.
