Located by St. Charles Health System in northeast Bend, Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Clinic of the Cascades provides healthcare on a donation basis to working adults in Central Oregon with no medical insurance or means to pay for care. They use a community approach, where 317 in-clinic volunteers and over 300 local medical partners collaborate to provide patients 18-64 years of age with necessary primary and specialty medical care, prescription medications, mental health care, and/or basic dental care. The majority of their patients have one or more chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, or mental health diagnoses that are manageable with medical oversight and access to care. Patient costs at VIM are about $65 per month and are funded by patient donations along with local and regional supporters. 100% of your donation is used locally to fund the medical care and prescriptions for patients who qualify for care.
