At one of the major intersections of Bend at 3rd St and Greenwood, Colima Market has quietly boasted what a reviewer says is the “best selection of Mexican cheeses, meats, and spices in Bend!” since 1992. Calling itself “su tienda latina” (“your Latino store”), the small market is run by a family from Guerrero, Mexico. They are open daily and their hours run well into the evening, 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday. As soon as you go inside, you get a good feeling about the authenticity and variety you are about to enjoy. They have a selection of Mexican branded dairy products and soft drinks in their cooler and their focused produce section features many items you don’t find at regular grocery stores, like cactus, prickly pear, plaintains and other seasonal fruits, vegetables, gourds and root veggies. More than just groceries (check out their dry goods section and crazy dried chili pepper variety), they’ve also got everyday essentials for the kitchen and household, even shoes and clothing.
