The Ale Apothecary is a vintage-batch oak barrel brewery located about 11 miles west of downtown just before Tumalo Falls. Started in 2011 with a mission to celebrate family, pursue freedoms, and create a lifestyle with beer as the vehicle, their hand-made Oregon beer is made from local hops and malt in wild and open fermentation and long-term barrel aging. The carbonation in their brews is 100% natural from bottle fermentation, and their products include Sahalie, La Tache, El Cuatro, Sahati, and Ralph. With distribution in shops and brewpubs in Bend, Portland, and Corvallis, they currently have a waiting list you can add your name to for their Ale Club (they do not ship beer). While the brewery is closed to the public to respect the neighborhood, they have a tasting room on SW Century Drive in Bend, where children are also welcome. Tasting room hours are Thursday – Saturday from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
