About Valerie
Valerie went back and forth between Central Oregon and Portland for five years before she moved to Central Oregon full time in 2005.

In her time away from work, Valerie enjoys skiing, après skiing, movies, a bit of biking, and exploring Central Oregon’s many hiking trails.

What’s Your Favorite Bend Adventure?
I moved to Bend to ski, so my favorite Bend adventure is a great powder day on Mt. Bachelor. If the backside runs are open, it is even better! In the spring it’s great to ski and then enjoy some sun on the lodge patio or with the locals in the parking lot before heading home.

What’s Your Favorite Dining Spot?
I don’t know if I could pick just one, but I love Dogwood Cocktail Cabin. Dogwood has some of the best, inventive martinis around. I also can’t go more than a few days without a dessert from Salud! Raw Food – surprisingly delicious!

Best Piece Of Advice For First Time Visitors To Bend?
Visit Bend’s website has great resources and an up-to-date events calendar. The Source Weekly is also a really good way to find out what is going on and is available for free in many locations around town.

The downtown area and Drake Park are must-sees. I would also recommend that visitors check out the High Desert Museum a few miles south of town. The wildlife and exhibits are specific to Central Oregon and it is a great way to learn about the local area and its history.

In the summer time, Lava Lands is worth a visit. From the top of the butte you can see all of the buttes and mountains in Central Oregon and beyond!
